Gene Simmons & Shannon Tweed: The Lie Detector

On tonight’s Joy Behar Show on HLN, KISS front man Gene Simmons and his not-wife of 28 years Shannon Tweed appear to discuss their not-marital strife and the new season of their A&E show Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

Apparently, if previews and recent TV appearances are to be believed, the couple is on the verge of breaking up. Fine. I suppose it makes for good TV. However, after watching Hoda and Kathie Lee on the expanded hour of the Today Show interview the couple and then watching the clip from tonight’s Joy Behar Show in which Tweed walks off set, I find myself asking, “Who the hell is your producer, associate producer, field producer, hell even intern?”

Why am I yelling this at the TV you may ask? Simple, as a long time viewer of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, I clearly remember the episode where Gene takes a lie detector test where he is asked (and this is the really important part) if he has “made love to another woman” since he’s been with Shannon. He said no and showed no deception. Sadly for Gene just as that season 3 episode titled “Brutal Truth ” was about to air a video of Gene humping some woman a few years prior, appeared on the net. Mr. Simmons promptly bought the video and threatened legal action against any blog or news agency that either aired or posted still images from said video.

The key words in the question were “made love to.” Mr. Simmons, in his mind, likely did not make love to those women, rather he fucked them. It’s semantics, but whatever, nobody on Gene Simmons Family Jewels brought that up, but hey, it’s HIS show.

As usual, none of the mainstream media brought the lie detector episode up. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
